Drôle d'avocat que ce Mr Paradise, de son vrai nom Tony Paradiso. À son âge, il n'exerce plus et jouit d'une fortune considérable qui lui permet de s'offrir de petits plaisirs dispendieux, telles ces jeunes personnes que lui ramène Montez Taylor, son homme de confiance. Montez est un ancien « client ». Mr Paradiso l'a jadis tiré d'un mauvais pas.
À présent, le très cool Montez s'occupe de recruter les jeunes femmes qui viennent le temps d'une soirée exécuter un numéro de majorettes de chaque côté de l'écran géant sur lequel l'exavocat regarde les matchs de l'Université du Michigan, son équipe de football préférée. Pas de quoi fouetter un chat, non. Mais de quoi tuer un homme. Car un soir, alors que Chloé - une habituée des soirées de Mr Paradise - arrive avec son amie Kelly, les choses tournent mal. En moins de temps qu'il n'en faut pour le dire, Mr Paradise et l'une des deux filles ont été abattus. Deux balles chacun.
